SEO Pricing India 2026 How Much SEO Costs per Month and What You Get
SEO pricing in India in 2026 usually runs from ₹8000 to ₹25000 a month with a freelancer and ₹15000 to ₹50000 a month with a small agency for a small business while growing companies pay ₹40000 to ₹100000 and large brands pay ₹150000 or more and most agencies add 18% GST on top These ranges come from comparing the prices that six Indian SEO agencies published in 2026 along with global surveys by Ahrefs and Clutch and we at CourseUnbox do not sell SEO services so we have no reason to push you towards a higher package
The short version
A freelancer usually charges ₹8000 to ₹25000 a month and a small agency ₹15000 to ₹50000
Local SEO for one shop or clinic usually costs ₹10000 to ₹30000 a month
An online store usually needs ₹40000 to ₹150000 a month because it has many more pages
76% of SEO providers based in India charge 1000 US dollars or less a month says an Ahrefs survey
Most agencies add 18% GST on top of the price they quote so always ask for the final amount
Almost every guide on SEO cost in India is written by an agency that sells SEO and none of the five we checked closely even mentions GST so this guide is different because it compares their prices side by side and shows you what each budget really buys and how to spot a bad deal before you sign
If you are new to the topic our simple guide on what is SEO explains how it works before you look at prices and if you would rather learn SEO and do it yourself or make a career out of it we teach it step by step in our SEO course online and as part of the AI digital marketing course online and if you want someone to do it for you our list of the top digital marketing companies in India is a good place to start
SEO pricing in India at a glance
If you only want the numbers this is SEO pricing India businesses can expect in 2026 and these are the usual SEO rates India businesses pay each month before GST
Freelancer ₹8000 to ₹25000
Local SEO for one location ₹10000 to ₹30000
Small business with a small agency ₹15000 to ₹50000
Growing or mid sized business ₹40000 to ₹100000
Online store ₹40000 to ₹150000
Large brand or enterprise ₹150000 and above
One time SEO audit ₹15000 to ₹75000 and deeper audits for big sites can go up to ₹250000
These are ranges and not fixed prices so a quote outside them is not automatically wrong but it should come with a clear reason
How we worked out these prices
We read the SEO price guides that six Indian agencies published in 2026 and they were Marko and Brando and Nico Digital and ARE InfoTech and SocioLabs and Matebiz and upGrowth and then we kept only the ranges where most of them agreed
We also checked three global sources that do not depend on any one agency
Ahrefs surveyed 439 SEO providers and found that 76% of those based in India charge 1000 US dollars or less a month and nearly 86% charge 30 US dollars or less an hour
Clutch lists the average rate for SEO firms in India at less than 25 US dollars an hour while most firms in the US charge 100 to 149 US dollars an hour
Upwork says SEO experts on its platform usually charge 15 to 35 US dollars an hour across all countries
Two things kept coming up and they matter for your budget because the agency guides often disagree with themselves on the same page and none of the ones we checked closely says whether GST is included
SEO cost in India by type of business
The cost of SEO depends most on what kind of business you run because a small clinic and an online store with 2000 products need very different amounts of work
Small business
A small business with a simple website and a few services usually pays ₹15000 to ₹50000 a month to a small agency or ₹8000 to ₹25000 to a freelancer and at this level the work focuses on fixing the website and writing a few pages and building local trust
Local shop or clinic
A business that serves one city or area usually pays ₹10000 to ₹30000 a month and most of the work goes into the Google Business Profile and reviews and local pages which we explain in detail further down
Startup
Startups usually spend ₹20000 to ₹60000 a month and they often start with a one time audit and a content plan before signing a monthly contract
Online store
Online stores usually pay ₹40000 to ₹150000 a month because product pages and category pages and technical issues multiply as the store grows and stores with more than 1000 products sit at the top of this range
Large brand
Large companies with many websites or cities or languages usually pay ₹150000 to ₹500000 a month and often more because they need a senior team and custom reports and work on many sites at once
What your money buys at each budget
This is the part most price guides skip so here is roughly what you can expect for each monthly budget
Around ₹10000 a month
A freelancer or very small agency can set up your Google Business Profile and fix basic website problems and write or improve two to four pages a month and send a simple monthly report
Around ₹25000 a month
You can expect a proper audit in the first month followed by regular on page fixes and four to eight new or improved pages and some local or industry links and a report that tracks rankings and enquiries
Around ₹50000 a month
A good small or mid sized agency can give you a named account manager and a monthly content plan and steady link building and technical work and reporting that connects SEO to leads or sales
₹100000 a month and above
At this level you are paying for a senior team and more content and digital PR and work on site speed and structure and tracking of how often your brand shows up in AI answers on Google and ChatGPT
If a cheap quote promises everything in the ₹100000 list for ₹10000 something is being cut and it is usually the quality of the content or the links
How SEO is priced
Agencies and freelancers in India use five common ways to charge
Monthly retainer A fixed amount every month for ongoing work and this is the most common choice
One time project A fixed price for a set job like an audit or a website move or fixing a Google penalty
Hourly rate Common with freelancers and consultants and usually best for advice or small fixes
Performance based You pay more when rankings or leads go up but the terms are hard to measure fairly so read them carefully
Per keyword pricing You pay for each keyword ranked and many honest agencies call this a red flag because it pushes people to chase easy words that bring no business
What affects the cost of SEO
Two businesses can get very different quotes for the same city so here is what pushes the SEO marketing cost up or down
Competition Ranking a lawyer or a hospital in Mumbai costs more than ranking a bakery in a small town
Size of the website A 10 page site needs far less work than a store with thousands of products
Condition of the website A slow site with old problems needs more fixing in the first few months
Content needs If the agency writes all your blogs and pages the price goes up
Links and PR Good links from real websites take time and money while cheap bulk links can get you in trouble
Area covered One city costs less than all of India and all of India costs less than many countries
Seniority of the team You pay more for experienced people and you usually get better advice
How much do local SEO services cost
Local SEO helps a shop or clinic or restaurant show up when people search for something near them and on Google Maps
Most Indian agencies charge ₹10000 to ₹30000 a month for one location and businesses with many branches pay more for each extra location
The good news is that a lot of local SEO can start for free because creating a Google Business Profile costs nothing and so does Google Search Console and if you add correct timings and photos and reply to reviews yourself you can do much of the early work without paying anyone
Freelancer vs agency vs doing it yourself
There are three ways to get SEO done and each one suits a different stage
A freelancer costs ₹8000 to ₹25000 a month and suits a small business with a simple website but work can stop if that one person gets busy or falls sick
An agency costs ₹15000 a month and up and gives you a team with writers and technical people and backup when someone is away
Doing it yourself costs mostly your time because Google’s own tools are free and paid tools like Ahrefs start at 129 US dollars a month for the Lite plan if you need them later
Many small business owners learn the basics first so they can judge any freelancer or agency they hire and our SEO course syllabus shows exactly which skills you need to do the work yourself while our guide on what is freelancing explains how freelancers work and charge if you are thinking of hiring one
If you live in the capital and prefer learning with a teacher in the room our SEO course in Delhi teaches the same skills in a classroom
Is GST extra on SEO
Yes in most cases because SEO and other digital marketing services attract 18% GST in India and this did not change when GST rates were revised in September 2025
So a ₹25000 monthly quote usually becomes ₹29500 once GST is added and registered businesses can usually claim this GST back as input tax credit but always ask the agency whether its price includes GST or not before you sign
SEO price vs search engine marketing price
Search engine marketing covers both SEO which brings free visits from Google and paid search ads which you pay for every click and when people in India search for search engine marketing price Google mostly shows SEO price pages so the two often get mixed up
SEO You pay the agency a monthly fee and results build slowly but keep coming
Google Ads You pay Google for each click plus an agency fee which is usually 10% to 20% of your ad spend and results start fast but stop when you stop paying
Many businesses use ads for quick enquiries and SEO for long term growth and if you want to learn ads too our performance marketing course online covers Google and Meta ads from scratch
Monthly SEO plans and what they include
Most agencies sell monthly plans with names like basic and standard and premium and a typical plan includes
A website audit in the first month
Fixes to page titles and headings and site speed and mobile issues
A set number of new or improved pages or blogs each month
Google Business Profile work for local businesses
Some link building from relevant websites
A monthly report on rankings and traffic and enquiries
Compare plans by what is delivered each month and not by the name so ask how many pages and links and hours you get and who does the work
How long SEO takes to show results
SEO is slow and a Google video on hiring an SEO says it usually takes four months to a year to make changes and then see results
Local businesses in easy markets can see movement in one or two months while competitive keywords often take six to nine months so plan your budget for at least six months before you judge the results
Hidden costs to watch for
A low monthly fee can look good until the extra bills arrive so check these before you agree to any SEO pricing India agencies send you
GST Most quotes leave out the 18% GST so the real cost is higher than the number on the first page
Content writing Some plans include only fixes and charge extra for every blog or page they write
Website developer time SEO often finds problems that a developer has to fix and many agencies do not include this work
Tools Some freelancers ask you to pay for paid SEO tools separately
Setup fee A few agencies charge a one time setup or audit fee before the monthly plan starts
Lock in period A six or twelve month lock in means you keep paying even if the work is poor
Ask for one written number that covers everything you will pay in the first three months so there are no surprises
How to set your SEO budget
There is no perfect number for everyone but you can work out a sensible budget in four simple steps
Step 1 Know what one customer is worth to you
Add up what a normal customer spends with you in a year and how much of that is profit because a coaching centre that earns ₹40000 from each student can afford more SEO than a shop that earns ₹200 from each sale
Step 2 Decide how many extra customers you need
Think about how many new customers a month would make the spending worth it and be realistic because SEO grows slowly in the first few months
Step 3 Match your market to a price range
Use the ranges in this guide as a starting point so a local business can start near ₹10000 to ₹30000 a month while an online store or a business in a busy market will need more
Step 4 Commit for at least six months
SEO pricing India agencies quote is usually monthly but the results take months to build so only start if you can keep the same budget for at least six months and review it properly after that
If your budget is very small start with the free work first like your Google Business Profile and reviews and a few good pages on your website and then hire help once you know what works
How to compare two SEO quotes
Two quotes with different prices are often not selling the same thing so here is a made up example of how to compare them fairly
Quote A ₹12000 a month with no GST shown and a promise of 50 backlinks every month and rankings for 20 keywords and no mention of content
Quote B ₹30000 a month plus GST with an audit in month one and six new pages a month and local SEO work and five links from real Indian websites and a monthly report on enquiries
Quote A looks cheaper but it hides GST and promises bulk links that can harm your site and says nothing about who writes your content while Quote B costs more but tells you exactly what you get each month and ties the work to enquiries
So compare quotes on four things and they are what gets delivered each month and who does the work and how results are measured and the total cost with GST and only then look at the price
Red flags in cheap SEO offers
A promise of the number one rank on Google by a fixed date
Hundreds of backlinks for a tiny fee
Prices per keyword with no plan for leads or sales
No clear list of what you get each month
A quote given before anyone looks at your website
No senior person involved after the sales call
Reports that only show rankings and never traffic or enquiries
Questions to ask before you pay
What exactly will you deliver each month
Who will work on my website and how much experience do they have
Does the price include GST and are there any extra costs like content or tools
What results can I expect in three and six months
Who owns the content and the Google accounts if we stop working together
What is the notice period if I want to leave
Can I talk to two clients you have worked with
Make sure your Google Business Profile and Google Search Console and Google Analytics and website stay in your own name so you never lose them if you change agencies
Is SEO worth the cost
SEO is worth it when the extra customers it brings are worth more than what you spend so here is a simple example with made up numbers to show the maths
A clinic spends ₹25000 a month on SEO which is ₹29500 with GST
After six months SEO brings 40 extra enquiries a month
10 of them become patients who each bring ₹4000 in fees
That is ₹40000 a month from SEO against ₹29500 in cost
The numbers improve over time because good pages keep bringing visits even after the work on them is done which is why SEO usually beats ads in the long run for businesses that can wait
SEO cost and AI answers on Google
Google now shows AI answers at the top of many searches and Ahrefs found in February 2026 that when an AI answer appears the top result is linked with 58% fewer clicks on average
This does not make SEO useless but it changes what you pay for because good SEO in 2026 also tries to get your business mentioned inside those AI answers and only a few price guides even mention this so ask any agency how it plans to show your brand in AI answers on Google and in tools like ChatGPT
